Abstract
The purpose of this study is to characterize the nature of endometrial antigens involved in IgG humoral response and to determine the incidence of antiendometrial autoantibodies in patients with endometriosis
Sera of 29 patients with endometriosis and 20 cord (control ) sera were tested for the presence of antibodies against endometrial tissue antigens by dual-labelling immunohistochemical method and western blot analysis. Antiendometrial antibody
binding
could be localized in the cytoplasm of glandular epithelium of endometria from patients with endometriosis. These binding activities were observed in 13(48.1%) of sera from patients with endometriosis and in 2 (10.0%) cord sera(p<0.05). Most sera
of
both control and patients showed reactivity against endometrial proteins with molecular weight(MW) of 34, 36, 56 and 77 Kd. However there were specific IgG autoantibodies reactive against the endometrial proteins of 71, 92 and 103Kd in
55.1%(16/29)
of
patients but not in the control sera. The frequency of antiendometrial antibodies was not correlated with clinical stage of endometriosis. These data indicate hat circulating IgG detected in some patients with endometriosis may direct against
endometrial antigens with MW of 71, 92 and 103Kd.
